Marcus Tullius Cicero, was a Roman philosopher, politician, lawyer, orator, political theorist, consul and
constitutionist.
Born: January 3, 106 BC Arpinum, Rome.
When describing a politician/leader Cicero is quoted as stating the
following: Quote: " He must protect the lives and interests of the people, appeal to
his fellow citizens patriotic interests, and,in general, set the welfare of the community above his own " unquote - now although he
refers to " He/his " ofcourse in today's context it would apply to a " She/hers " as well.
Now that was a couple of 1000 years ago people before he was assassinated
so do you believe that applies to the worlds pollies/leaders today ?? NO!! in my view ofcourse not we are still collectively
assassinating - whether actually or metaphorically - pollies/leaders that espouse and/or live by that code!! political self interest
and party politics takes priority!!
Events that remind me of this would be the likes of Kevin Rudd, Julia
Gillard and Malcolm Turnbull regardless what you thought of them as a person and/or their politics.
Although Malcolm Turnbull in many ways fell on is own political sword as a
result of some politically naive thought that offering your resignation as a party leader if your party members did not support you
over a politically unpopular climate change policy was not a wise move ? I bet he would not do it again in a hurry!!
However I wonder if Turnbull is prepared to resign and cause a bi-election
in regard to his passion for gay marriage???????.
Liberal Senator Eric Abetz stated in the Senate on Wednesday the 14/5/2014
that the Labor Senator Penny Wong and the Leader of the Opposition in the Senate had stated quote " We were elected to
oppose " unquote and as Wong was present in the chamber at the time and did not object to Abetz statement surely we must accept
that it was true??
Therefore it would appear considering Senator Wongs position in the Senate
she and the Labor Party will be wasting 100 of 1000's of tax payers hard earned funds in valuable parliamentary time objecting to
the Abbott mobs plans/legislation and totally ignoring Cicero's code of ethics!! for the sole purpose of blocking ! disrupting !
stalling ! discrediting ! the Libs/Nats and maybe the minor parties such as the Palmer mob with the sole purpose of getting back the
Treasury Benches at the next election??
Which ofcourse won't make our steely teacher faced greenie and Leader of
the Greenies Senator Milne happy at all because the greenie mob hopes to replace the Labor mob as the second major party?? Ok
stop laughing this is serious!! ask them they will tell you with a straight face and in all greenie sincerity.
Then ofcourse we have only to take into consideration the unionist rant by
the Labor Opposition Leader Bill Shorten commonly referred to as the Oppositions Reply to the Treasurers Budget speech where
to thunderous applause by the Labor Party Rent a Crowd in the parliamentary gallery little Bill Shorten seemed to grow in
stature, tenacity, vitriol, gorilla like chest thumping after each ovation!
It was fortunate that the parliamentary rostrum was made of sturdy stuff
because otherwise the way Bill with blazing eyes wide open pushing his sparse hair line even further to the back of his head was
pressing over and against the rostrum with such emotive force ? if it had given way he could have landed in the PM's lap
making the James Parker and David Gyngellfight/punch up/brawl look like kindergarten stuff!!!!
People having dealt with the likes of the Water Side Workers,Storeman
Packers,Transport Workers, Federated Clerks unions I believe Bill Shortens so-called Reply speech was one of the finest Union
rallying speech I have seen/heard and I have seen/heard a myriad of them.
I know from experience - and nothing has changed my mind since - that Union
organisations are not there to solve problems because they are not structured in that way it is not in their DNA!!
They have only experienced a narrow, one sided, blinkered, perception of life
and that is of a " Taker and not a Giver " making demands, threats of disruption and financial loss if their demands are not
agreed too/met!!!
Hence Bill Shortens vitriolic reply filled with bitter criticism and malice
- threatening, demanding with not a hint of positive compromise, reconciliation, cooperation and/or the advancement of
possibilities!!
Bill Shorten in my view of many decades of political interest was not in
the Aussie parliament representing all Aussies but was back in the Industrial Commission big noting himself and playing to the
gallery like a Shakespearean farce!!
This sought of action by various unions in Aussie has contributed in my
experienced view to forcing employers to find alternative ways of operating their businesses and as a result ensured the
demise of unionised labour which continues at a pace as I type this! and I have no doubt reflects the reason why the Aussie
voters have deserted the Labor Party in droves across the various Aussies governments both local, state and federal mainly
because of the destructive influence and the limited perspective of the union trained pollies.
The fact that you have to be a member of a union to join the Labor Party
surely in it's self speaks volumes????
No the solving of problems financial or otherwise is left solely up to
management - in this case the Abbott mob hence little if anything in the
Bill Shorten tirade was there offered any solutions!! and in my view there won't
be!! because like Senator Wong in the Senate Bill Shorten in the house of Reps will endeavour to try and
block/disrupt with points of order/divisions! and the mantra of broken promises/lies and misleading the voters and being as
controversial as possible to get the maximum media coverage - especially in the
Labor/greenies media organisation the Aussie ABC - for purely political self
interest and the result of the next federal election foremost in their minds!! this is what in my
view the likes of Bill Shorten, Doug Cameron are trained for and have spent most of their lives honing these skills where they learn
how to successfully demand, pressure, politicise and in my experience threaten to
withdraw their members from work if I did not fully capitulate?? or in the case
of politics block legislation.
Well ofcourse the Labor mob will state that this is just the tactics the
Abbott mob successfully employed?? Ok maybe so but as the old saying goes " Two wrongs do not make a right " or some such thing -
anyway I am sure you get the drift!! anyway how dumb does this Labor mob believe we Aussies are because I have no doubt the
average Aussie voter could not wait to get rid of this divisive, disorganised mob where the likes of one of their leaders
by the name of Bill Shorten a then Minister could not make up his mind which Labor Leader ? Rudd or Gillard ? to remain loyal
too?? so he tried both!! and this is the same Bill Shorten that is asking the Aussie people/voters to trust him
now???????
No people in my experienced view of these matters Bill Shortens Reply
speech was nothing more than a cynical rallying speech to the troops and mate do they need it!!!
NSW - last election a land slide to the Libs/Nats!
Queensland - last election a land slide to the Libs/nats!
South Australia - a hung parliament Labor relying on an independent to stay
in power!
ACT - Labor hung parliament - the lone greenie Shane Rattenbury the
Minister for Fire Trails runs the place
with the biggest territory deficit in the ACT's history and seemingly
climbing?
Tasmania - last election a land slide to the Libs/Nats! Victoria - Lib/Nat Government.
WA - Lib/Nat government. the last WA Senate election in April this year Labor had a swing against them of 5.06% and lost a Senator!
NT Lib/Nat government. Federal election September 2013 - lost (15) seats in the house of Reps and ofcourse as from the 1/7/2014 will lose a WA Senator.

It would appear that the main reason for the demise of the Labor Party in
NSW,Q/land,Tasmania and now the Federal was that voters were very unhappy with the way the Labor Party managed the tax
payers funds and built up huge deficits and would have left a massive legacy for future generations to clear up? if that was
possible??
However not according to Bill Shortens mob oh no the millions of voters
that voted them out have got it all wrong!! yep that's just a mirage? a figment of every ones imagination accept the Labor
Parties!!
Aussie did great during the GFC compared to comparable economies. ? I
wonder Bill Shorten if that was because we had a (40) billion dollar kitty left over from the Howard mob? and that with our
wealth of natural energy/raw materials we were an exporter and the majority of the countries effected by the GFC were not so
lucky and therefore were/are consumers?? so? was it the Labor/ Greenie plus supporting Independents team and their
magnificent financial management?? or mainly just good old Aussie luck?? me thinks the latter in most part!!
Bill Shorten -there is no deficit urgency! AAA rating! only (8) other
countries in the world have it? so what if the
pensions/welfare/disability/Medicare costs are ballooning out of control?? and
there is not enough funds for sufficient infrastructure and our nations roads? that the interest bill for the
billions of dollars we have on the countries credit card is a billion dollars per month and climbing? no worries we will just borrow
more!!!! because as it can be seen country wide that's the Labor/Union way!! and anyway if we agree with the Abbott mobs budget we
are admitting we got it wrong?? so, oh know that will never do!! so soldier on brothers and sisters solidarity for ever!!
even though unions are themselves continuing to decline in both influence with
the closer of more and more manufacturing/mining and as a consequence less members - out of an Aussie work force of say 11,459,500 as at January 2014 it is estimated that there
is only about (18%) say just over two million - and declining - union members - but if matters get real bad when we get back
into power we can always get the Union Officials onto welfare say a Disability
Support Pension it pays more???
However that said about Labor those that have read my previous mikes
comments will know I am no great fan of Tony Abbott PM!
I have always regarded PM Abbott as a pugilist, fighter, pug, boxer just from
his body language in the way he walks, talks and with his head down looking across the parliament with his finger pointing -
which is a sign of aggression in it's self - when attacking his political opponents was some what acceptable as Johnny Howards attack
dog/head kicker but not a good look I believe for a PM and as such I believe I was far from alone by being surprised that he
obtained the position of Opposition Leader against MalcolmTurnbulls nomination? even though he only won the position by one vote? I
often wondered what would have happened if the lady pollie that was sick at the time? had not been??.
Now I agree 128% in the mantra that all businesses, governments at all three
levels of this over governed country of ours, homes and even individuals should live within their means and that the hard
working tax paying Aussies should not be doing so in order to subsidise 10's of 1000's of welfare bludging others and the
organisations that support/assist them in this rip off!! and yes I do mean 10's
of 1000's because you only have to walk the main streets of Tamworth just as a
example and go around caravan parks in the area to see them sitting around smoking, drinking alcohol, playing
sport ball games etc;!!
However I believe the Abbott mob have gone about it in a
ruthless, uncaring, aggressive way which instead of bringing the Aussie nation with them they are frightening people and expecting the
majority to trust an unproven first time PM who has only been in the job for some say (8) months?? A VERY WRONG POLICY!!! and considering the age and experience of the pollies responsible I believe it is a shocking state of affairs and can only fail
long term!!
I have stated in my previous mikes comments that I have over the years
managed both other peoples organisations and later my own.
I believe the first duty of any manager/proprietor is to win the confidence
of their management team and the other employees!!
Note I use the term " other employees " and not the union term that the
likes of Bill Shorten/Doug Cameron use and that being the term " The workers " this I believe is used by Union officials in a
divisive way to promote the " Them and us " attitude in order to indoctrinate the union members into believing that they need to belong
to a union to fight the dreaded/feared " Them "?? plus ofcourse it conveys the
impression that only the " Non titled " employees do any work??
Once you have obtained the confidence of the staff/employees and as a
manager/proprietor you have to make some unpleasant decisions from time to time however because the other employees have
confidence in you and your decision making they are much more likely to accept your decision no matter how unpalatable in may
seem at the time.
I look on PM Abbott as CEO/Managing Director, the Ministers as the board of
Directors and the pollies in general the line Managers and we the tax payers the share holders and as such the Abbott mob work for
us and therefore must reasonably convince us that the decisions they make are in our interest - financial or otherwise -
and therefore it is imperative that the Abbott mob not only lead us but at the same time take the nation with them!! in this case
and this budget I believe they have gone " To Fast !To Hard ! To Far ! To Soon and failed miserably!!
Sure we tax payers by law cannot withdraw our funds/shares - well we can
but the honest ones amongst us could end up in jail- but what we can do is withdraw our supporting vote and the Abbott
government could become a " One term failure "?? which ofcourse the
Labor/Greenie mobs are hoping for!!
So come on people speak up because if you trust most of these bastards to
do the right thing by you then more fool you and if you do?? and things go wrong don't whinge!!!!!!!!
Mike Howe.
Bill Shorten the Opposition Federal Labor Leader.
